Activities of the Bologna State Archives in the First Semester of 2006
Fulgores Bononiae – 14th and 15th-century miniatures
Published by Trident S.p.a., which handled the reproduction of 40 miniatures belonging to the collection of illuminated codices of the Bologna State Archives, the work Fulgores Bononiae will be presented at the Archives in the early months of 2006. The 14th and 15th-century miniatures are taken from parchment codices containing the statutes of corporations of arts and crafts, religious confraternities and secular companies, and constitute some of the finest specimens of the Bolognese school of illumination in the Middle Ages.
The work includes illustrative material and an introductory essay by Carla Battistini, an art historian and expert on Bolognese miniatures. (Book Space) Production and trade between the 13th and 16th centuries
The Workshop of Historical Research on Archival Sources, a joint project launched last year by the Bologna State Archives and the Department of Palaeography and Medieval Studies of Bologna University, will continue its activities in the first semester of 2006. The subject addressed this year is crafts, production and trade between the 13th and 16th centuries.
Aimed at students and held in Bologna University, the workshop seeks to develop medieval archival sources and train scholars in such a way as to combine a historical background with the specific capacity to carry out archival studies. The workshop is directed by Antonella Campanini of the Department and Rossella Rinaldi of the State Archives under the guidance of Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli, professor of medieval history.
The Archives of the Bologna branch of the Christian Democratic Party
Deposited with the Bologna State Archives in 2003 by the Rome-based Luigi Sturzo Institute, the fonds of the three Bolognese committees of Democrazia Cristiana will be arranged during 2006. They comprise a total of 433 archival units and cover the period 1947-92. The work, which is already underway, is being carried out jointly by the State Archives and the Sturzo Institute. On completion, the material will be presented at a one-day conference to be held in the autumn of 2006. |
